The Honeymoon Chaise Designed and made by Johnny and Steve Pawsey in 1985 for an exhibition in The Orangerie, Holland Park. Made in Rippled English Sycamore stained using an old chemical mordant recipe of George Frank. The compound curves and scroll work are carved from solid pieces and are technically very demanding. The upholstery in yellow silk taffeta was done by Derek Maggs on his return from rigging on an oil well in The North Sea. This was sold privately and a pair was commissioned for a palace in Istanbul. A similar piece today would cost in the region of £7000 + vat.

The Cadillac Sofa, so called because it was inspired by my love of 50's American cars. The upholstery, again done by Roy Coles is based around the bench seats of a Caddie and the headlights are Thuya Burr. The wood is Rippled English Olive Ash and the orange leather is fashion quality which has a wonderfully sexy feel. I exhibited this sofa at 100% Design 1996 and received a great commission for a pair of them from a client in Sydney, Australia. |

The same combination of Satinwood and the faux animal print fabric. It's a copy of a piece I saw tucked in the back of Philips Auction House in London. I liked its understated views. |
