Artistic Style
"I have always been struck by the sheer variety and beauty of the grain in solid wood. I have never been locked into one style, preferring to be influenced by events around me. My affection is for modernism with flowing, sexy lines and a softer touch than the sometimes brutish Cubism." Johnny Hawkes |

Commissioned Work Sensible and short or dark and dangerous Johnny Hawkes has earned prestigious commissions for both private and corporate clients and has been invited to show work in Australia, New York and Germany. Major recent commissions were a Reception Desk and Boardroom table for Mckay Securities PLC and a carved rippled sycamore, partition room screen for Lord Bath. It has over 5000 LED micro lights, shining into etched glass. He can sit at his desk and control via a computer, the colour sequence of the Screen by tweaking the lights. He can set up different moods within the forest etched into the 4 glass panels. |

"I intend to show and talk about a different commission bi-monthly on this page. It may show speculative work or just current thoughts with the latest crop circle news. Check it out!" Johnny Hawkes 'The Recession' table Macassar Ebony Tulipwood and Glass

Mission Statement Celebrating 25 years in design, PW Ltd has evolved from a skateboard company setting speed records into making New Furniture and Decorative items. From mellow to razor sharp, I employ 3 other people and consider us artists and engineers in wood, metal and plastics. Selected to exhibit my work internationally, I have two distinctive styles. My organic work, the soft feminine side, involves chiselling and sculpting deep into the wood. Sensual relief carving following curves and flowing lines. My sharp work is visually tougher and masculine, modernist and clean, using geometric planes. Through it all, is a genuine love affair with wood and it's sheer variety. Besides our 'in house' products, we take on commissions, short and sensible or dark and dangerous. My mission statement "resisting gravity" has remained unchanged, "To be paid, via design and innovation in commerce, to artistically experiment in any direction". Johnny Hawkes |
