Slate & Elm Table

Made on spec for an exhibition, the top was a highly figured piece of Delabole Slate teamed up with thick wedges of Burr Elm and joined with a stainless steel fabrication. 

Swiss Pear and Ebony

This piece sits among a fabulous collection of serious 18^th century antiques. My client was wonderfully bold to commission a modern piece. He certainly has forward vision. The engineering dynamic of the table is interesting as the weight of the ebony plattern, which sits in free space below the glass, tries to diagonally push out the legs, which are restrained by the ebony ball joints. This creates a tension within the frame which stops the quivering action. The Lazer cut inlays into the ebony are a copy of The DNA Double Helix crop circle which appeared in 1996 in The East Field at Alton Barnes. 

Teak Gullwing Spiral

Cut from a large slab of solid Teak, which is unusual these days, it has mellowed down to a dark honey colour. The difference with my spiral tables between straight cut and Gullwing is that straight cut are single pieces of wood cut from various planks whereas the Gullwing is cut on the curve from a single piece. The oval glass has a 25mm bevel on it and the table costs approx £750 + vat.
